Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

Qi Van Systems is a leading UK commercial vehicle conversion company, supporting major UK fleet customers within the Utility, Infrastructure, Construction, Engineering and Telecoms sectors.

From our extensive facilities in Telford, Shropshire, we manage the complete conversion process including design, manufacturing and the fit-out of vehicles. To support growth in the business, we are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the technical scoping of the customer projects and developing detailed designs for both prototype and production builds, ensuring that we deliver conversions that meet customer requirements. In addition, the role involves existing product improvements and new product design.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the sales team on new projects, including technical scoping and the creation of concept designs
Produce general arrangement and detailed component designs
Liaise with teams across the business, providing technical guidance for new design builds
Develop, manage, and update Bills of Materials
Identify and develop designs improvements and new, innovative products

Qualifications & Experience

Previously worked in design role within the commercial vehicle industry or similar industry
Qualified to HNC/HND/Degree in a related engineering subject
CAD experience
Proficient in SolidWorks
Consultative approach
Strong organisational, time management and communication skills
Clean driving licence
